Yes, I AM one beautiful horse. And, better yet, I'm nice. They plan to expand our website soon, so you'll be able to see more picture of me!

Asked by: Samantha Date: June 5
Question:
Do you get along with your other horsey-friends at the barn?

Hello Samantha ~

I am seven years old and weight 1,700 pounds so I get to be head honcho
around here. I live with a Quarter/Percheron cross gelding, a Morgan
mare, and a Haflinger mare. It's a good group; we're good friends. Then,
there are four ponies in the paddock next to me; so there are eight of us
altogether.  We all offer riding lessons at an AARS stable in Michigan.

Rose

Asked by: Lauren Date: October 23
Question:
Do you know any Clydesdales or other Percherons?

Dear Lauren:
I am the only draft horse here at Ramsey's Riverside Stable. I was born on a Percheron farm but was sold at the Amish auction when I was five months old. I am a schooling horse right along with the smaller horses and ponies. I am very well saddle trained, safe in the open fields, love to swim even with people on my back, and love to smack my HUGE hooves in water puddles. People say they feel safe when they are on me. I am a very good girl. Thank you for your question. Your friend,
Rose.

Asked by: Hannah Date: October 23
Question:
Is It fun being a pony?

Dear Hannah,

I'm not sure whether it's fun to be a pony because I am not one. I am a very big draft horse. BUT, I live with the ponies and they ALWAYS seem to be having fun. They get to give rides to very little children, and people braid their manes and tails with ribbons and bows for birthday parties. Last week, Pasghetti followed someone RIGHT INTO the tack room when they were looking for peppermint candies (for the ponies, of course!). If I tried that, I'd get stuck in the door!!!!

Asked by: Rachel Date: October 19
Question:
How much would it cost to enter a show and get the outfit and to rent the horse???

Dear Rachel ~

Most riders need to own their own horse in order to enter it in a show. Once you are ready for competition, you will want to enter a number of shows each year. It will make the investment in the tack and clothing worth the effort, and will give you feedback about your performance from more than one judge.

Asked by: Kirstin Date: November 8
Question:
How much do bay horses cost? How much money would it be to buy a horse, stable it and feed it for a month?

Dear Kirstin ~ Bay is a horse color. The cost of a horse is rarely based on its color. Instead, the cost depends on whether it is a purebred or grade (mutt) horse, how old it is, how well it is trained, the purpose for which it is being purchased, and whether it has a competition record. Horses can cost anywhere from $800 to $80,000 (and more!). Before worrying about the cost, I suggest you learn more about the kind of horse you will someday own. If you join the Pepperoni Ponies Fan Club, you will receive a packet that will include an invitation to join an inexpensive mail order program to help you learn a lot about choosing the best horse for you. Here at our stable it costs about $100 a month for hay, grain, and bedding for one horse. Add a couple hundred dollars a year for hoof trimming and de-worming and you have the basics covered. There are some spring shots to keep your horse from becoming ill, plus the equipment you choose to use with your horse. You may decide to board your horse away from your home; you may need a truck and trailer to enjoy your horse with friends in a local club. Again, you can learn all about the hobby through the Pepperoni Ponies Fan Club. Hope to see your application soon! ~ Your friend, Rose
